SPN 2791 FMI 14

Exhaust gas recirculation valve, cooler, and flow faults.

System
MaxxForce EGR

Diagnostic Overview

MaxxForce fault code SPN 2791 FMI 14 is commonly associated with an EGR valve initialization, failsafe, or actuator-control fault depending on calibration. The ECM may not be able to initialize the EGR valve correctly or may detect that the valve is not responding safely. This can result in warning lights, loss of power, and derate. Diagnosis should include electrical checks and mechanical movement checks.

Likely Causes

EGR valve actuator failure, initialization fault, sticking EGR valve, poor power or ground, damaged harness, connector corrosion, ECM signal issue, or failed relearn/calibration.

What To Check First

Check EGR actuator power and ground, inspect connector pins, verify the valve moves freely, perform the required EGR relearn/calibration, and retest with live commanded versus actual data.
