Diagnostic Overview
Cummins fault code 1894 commonly relates to VGT actuator performance, calibration, or position control. The ECM may command the variable geometry turbocharger actuator to move but detect that actual position does not match the command. Causes include a failed actuator, actuator out of calibration, sticking turbo vanes, carbon buildup, wiring faults, poor connector contact, or mechanical binding inside the turbocharger. Diagnosis should include checking actuator power, ground, and communication, performing actuator calibration, and inspecting turbo movement.
