Diagnostic Overview
Cummins fault code 2272 is commonly associated with EGR valve position, EGR actuator response, or EGR flow rationality. The ECM may detect that the EGR valve is not reaching the commanded position or that flow does not match engine operating conditions. Causes include carbon buildup, a sticking EGR valve, failed actuator, damaged wiring, poor connector contact, or restricted EGR cooler. A technician should test EGR actuator movement, compare commanded versus actual position, inspect wiring, and check the cooler and passages for restriction.
