Diagnostic Overview
CAT fault code 3484-6 usually indicates an aftertreatment or ARD control circuit with current above normal, commonly caused by a shorted component or shorted wiring. When this happens, the ECM may disable the output to protect the circuit, which can prevent normal regeneration. If left active, the DPF may load with soot and trigger additional aftertreatment or derate codes.
Likely Causes
Shorted ARD component; wiring short to ground; water intrusion; damaged connector; rubbed harness; failed control output; incorrect component.
What To Check First
Inspect wiring near hot exhaust areas, disconnect the controlled component for testing, check for shorts, and verify the circuit before replacing the ECM or aftertreatment parts.
