Diagnostic Overview
CAT fault code 3701-15 commonly indicates an aftertreatment condition that is above normal but at a least-severe level, often connected with DPF soot load, regeneration need, or aftertreatment restriction. The ECM is warning that the aftertreatment system is approaching a limit, but the condition may still be recoverable if addressed promptly. This code should not be treated as the root cause by itself; technicians should determine why the DPF or aftertreatment system reached the warning threshold.
Likely Causes
High soot loading; interrupted regenerations; excessive idle time; failed regen enable condition; faulty DPF differential pressure sensor; plugged sensor tubes; upstream engine fault creating soot.
What To Check First
Check soot load, active/inactive regen history, DPF differential pressure, exhaust temperature sensor data, and related ARD or engine performance codes.
