Diagnostic Overview
CAT fault code 3484-5 is generally an aftertreatment or ARD control circuit fault where current is below normal or the circuit is open. The ECM may be unable to operate a valve, actuator, or controlled device needed during regeneration. This can prevent the DPF from cleaning properly and may lead to additional soot-load codes. The repair should start with the circuit and connector checks rather than replacing major aftertreatment parts.
Likely Causes
Open circuit; disconnected ARD component; failed solenoid or valve; damaged harness; blown fuse; poor ground; corroded connector.
What To Check First
Use Cat ET to identify the exact component, inspect the harness and connector, test resistance/continuity, and verify power and ground.
