DPF, DEF, SCR, and NOx-reduction system faults.

Diagnostic Overview

CAT fault code 3413-6 generally indicates an ARD or aftertreatment control circuit with current above normal or a shorted condition. The ECM may shut down the affected function to protect the circuit. Because this can interfere with regeneration, the DPF may begin to accumulate soot if the problem is not repaired. Diagnosis should focus on the electrical circuit and the controlled component rather than immediately cleaning the DPF.

Likely Causes

Short to ground; shorted component; damaged harness; failed relay or solenoid; water intrusion in connector; rubbed wiring near exhaust components.

What To Check First

Check the circuit identified by Cat ET, inspect the harness for rub-through, test the component, and verify there are no shorts before clearing the code.
