Diagnostic Overview
Cummins fault code 119 is commonly associated with coolant temperature sensor rationality or signal range issues. The ECM may see a temperature value that is too high, too low, or not believable. This can affect fueling, idle quality, fan operation, emissions strategy, and engine protection. Causes include a faulty coolant temperature sensor, low coolant, thermostat problems, wiring damage, corroded connector pins, or actual overheating. A technician should verify live data when cold and warm, inspect the cooling system, and test the sensor circuit.
