Diagnostic Overview
Cummins fault code 555 is commonly associated with high crankcase pressure or excessive engine blow-by. Although it is not an aftertreatment component code by itself, excessive crankcase pressure can contribute to oil carryover, soot loading, DPF contamination, and repeat aftertreatment problems. Common causes include a restricted crankcase breather, plugged ventilation plumbing, excessive oil level, worn piston rings, cylinder wear, or internal engine blow-by. A technician should inspect the crankcase ventilation system, verify oil level, check for excessive blow-by, and look for related DPF, turbo, or intake contamination before replacing aftertreatment parts.
