Cummins fault code 3712 is a derate or inducement-related fault, usually triggered because another emissions or aftertreatment fault has not been corrected. It is often not the root cause by itself. The ECM may reduce torque or vehicle performance to protect the engine or enforce emissions compliance. Common root causes include unresolved DPF, DEF, SCR, NOx sensor, exhaust temperature sensor, or dosing system faults. The correct repair is to diagnose and repair the underlying active codes first, then complete the required reset, regeneration, or drive cycle.
